Sponsored by the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Tampa Bay Chapter
WHERE: Philippe
Park (Pinellas County park) WHEN: Sunday, January 23, 2005, 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM
About 50 enthusiastic eaters braved the cold and wind to enjoy great food and friendly folks at the first bpf-tampabay potluck vegetarian picnic. There was a lot of interest in doing it
again in a warmer season.
What should I bring? Bring a covered dish large enough to serve 6 to 8 people. Remember, this is a vegetarian potluck, so please do not include meat, fish, or fowl. We suggest that you tape your name to the dish, the lid, and the serving spoon. Feel free to write the recipe for the dish on an index card to be displayed next to the dish. Please list ingredients of interest, like dairy, wheat, garlic, peanuts, etc. Vegan (no dairy) recipes are encouraged. Paper plates, plastic utensils, etc. will be provided. Who is invited? Vegetarians are of course welcome but we extend a special invitation to those who are considering adopting a vegetarian diet or just curious to learn more about it. Basically, everyone is invited to participate and enjoy delicious homemade vegetarian dishes! What else is on the agenda? These picnics are great networking events! Various groups will discuss what they do, when they meet, and so on. We might get a whiffle ball game going or maybe an informal sing-along/jam. Free vegetarian and Buddhist literature will also be available.
