Buddhists and non-Buddhists
alike are invited to share in this day of
meditation, movement, poetry, chanting, music and
children's activities.
CYMD began in New York's Central
Park in 1993 and is now celebrated in over 40
cities nationwide. This is the second year that the
event will be held in the Tampa Bay area.

2004 CYMD in St Petersburg.
Teachings will be offered by
local Buddhist groups representing a variety of
traditions (Mahayana, Theravada, Tibetan and Zen).
As in the time of the Buddha, the teachings will be
presented out-of-doors in a relaxed, informal
environment.
The Tampa Bay area has an exceptionally wide
variety of Buddhist groups. They include temples
that serve a number of Asian-American communities;
groups that represent at least five Tibetan
lineages; and groups that practice styles of
meditation such as Mindfulness, Nichiren, Vipassana
and Zen. Change Your Mind Day provides an
opportunity for members of these many groups to
come together, and a chance for interested
non-Buddhists to sample many types of practices in
a relaxed, informal environment.
Local Buddhist groups scheduled
to participate include Bodhi Tree Dhamma Center,
Clear Water Zen Group, Dhamma Wheel Meditation
Society, Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association,
Florida Buddhist Vihara, Flowing Dharma, Nichiren
Shu, North Tampa Dzogchen, Shambhala Meditation
Center, Tampa Karma Thegsum Chöling,

Mongkolratanaram.

Arrive at anytime. If you come
early, consider bringing a picnic lunch for some
mindful eating (water, shade, friendly folks and
mental stimulation provided). A chair or sitting
cushion will probably be helpful.
No experience necessary. No
charge or obligation. The Buddha taught that each
person must discover the truth of his teachings for
themselves. Come and see.
