Turbana Miniature Model Banana Village. . A detailed model of a Columbian banana country village, with truck, bus, tugboat, barge and two glass paintings. Mostly constructed from ceramic (clay), with small amounts of wood, metal and cloth. The two paintings are on the backs of 4 x 6-inch pieces of glass, with the back protected by a heavy paper covering. Comes in an 8.25 x 8.5 x 12-inch wooden packing box with sliding top. Made for and distributed by Turbana Banana Corp as a gift to their 'most valued business associates'. Date not known (1970-1995). Figures are about 1-inch tall (scale about 1:64). Made by villagers of Antioquia, Columbia under the direction of Mario Hernandez (Antioquia is known for its clay and pottery). Flaws: bus: missing left headlight, something (probably a figure) broken from back ladder; truck: missing one wire support and the covering 'tent', something (rear view mirror?) broken from by the driver's door; barge: large corner chip (red arrow), one tire-bumper missing; tugboat: top of wheelhouse missing (red arrow), something missing from front deck; no apparent flaws on village scene or paintings. keywords: Folk Art, Columbia, Banana Industry, Pottery, mixed media. Item #5782. $95.00.
